Roanoke Rapids Statics Name Lane Butler Head Coach

Roanoke Rapids, NC — The Roanoke Rapids Statics are proud to announce Lane Butler as the organization’s Head Coach, bringing a strong background in education, player development, and North Carolina baseball to the program.

Butler, a Rocky Mount native, currently serves as a science teacher and baseball coach at Northern Nash High School, while also contributing to the school’s football program. A graduate of Rocky Mount High School, he continued his education at NC State, further strengthening his ties to the region and its athletic community.

“Representing this organization is a privilege,” said Butler. “It means being part of something bigger than myself and helping to build a positive, competitive, and supportive environment for our athletes.”

Butler’s approach to the game centers on development and growth, both on and off the field. While competitiveness remains a priority, he emphasized a broader vision of success. “Success is not just measured by wins and losses. Of course we want to win every single game, but we really want to see the players develop skills, build confidence, and learn to work together as a team,” he said. “If we see improvement, effort, and a strong team culture, it will be a successful season.”

The opportunity to lead the Statics is one Butler views as a chance to make a lasting impact in the community. “What excites me most about this opportunity is being able to build relationships with the players and the community,” he said. “That connection is what makes this game special.”

As he begins his tenure, Butler is focused on establishing a culture that reflects the values of the organization and the community it represents. “I want this team to represent hard work, dedication, and respect,” he said. “I want our players to be known for their effort and attitudes. If we can create a culture where players do things the right way—especially the small things—that will carry with them far beyond the field.”

With his experience in coaching, education, and mentorship, Butler is well-positioned to lead the Roanoke Rapids Statics into a competitive and meaningful season.

The Statics look forward to the leadership and vision Butler brings as they continue building a program rooted in development, discipline, and community pride.
